Stillness: Study 11

The morning hours are here - the world is dark and quiet. A new day—dawn—emerges slowly. In the quiet, I settle. With the day before me, how should I go about living it? So many tasks and so many possibilities—where do I begin? Just as the day begins, I begin in the black void of dawn; all creative potential rests here. And in the stillness, clarity comes.

I still my mind, and I gain clarity.

I take a deep breath. I notice so many thoughts rushing around. I breathe again and let them go, focusing on my breath:the perfect pattern of the inhale and the exhale. I scan my body. There is tension. I breath into that tension and release. I let go. I become the emerging day, still, and yet happening. I am expectant—what will be will be. All turmoil settles - and I wake to clarity.

When you don’t know what to do, get still. The answer will come.
— Oprah Winfrey.
We don’t have to go anywhere to obtain the truth. We only need to be still and things will reveal themselves in the still water of our heart.
— Thich Nhat Hanh.
